Nowadays we may have downgrade love to the most inhospitable and lonely place found in our souls. Today we are more environmentalists than humanists, more solitary than social beings, more selfish and less empathetic, we have doomed love to exile.

Inspired in Velazquez's "Venus and Cupid", the only nude painted in Spain on the XVII century, challenging the inquisition and its persecution of the banal and sinful, this work is then, a tribute to one of the greatest masters of light
and expression in the Baroque period, an act of love, a way of succumbing to the sublime beauty of female body.

"Venus and Cupid during their exile at the Grand Canyon" was selected and exhibited in the Photograph Biennial of Novi Sad, Serbia in 2015.

* Printed on Fineart Hahnemühle 100% cotton paper. Framed on wood and glass.

Lulu Sanchez Puig stands as a visionary Mexican artist whose oeuvre transcends the conventional bounds of photography to explore the realms of the ethereal and the enigmatic. With a profound inclination towards the creation of dreamlike, magical worlds, her work seeks not to capture reality, but to redefine it, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of imagination and introspection. Sanchez Puig's artistic pursuit is deeply introspective, utilizing the camera not merely as a tool for capturing moments, but as a medium for profound self-exploration and expression. Her unique approach to artistry eschews direct and documentary photography, opting instead for the construction of fantastical landscapes that challenge the observer to envision alternate realities more aligned with the core of human existence.
