Robert Frear has had a deep connection with photography from a very young age. Over the years, he has witnessed significant changes in the processes and technology of the medium. Despite this, his unwavering passion for creating remarkable images has never faltered. As the photographic community has undergone drastic transformations, Robert's professional journey has paralleled these changes. He has had the privilege of working closely with renowned photographers, handling their raw film and immersing himself in analog darkrooms. As the industry shifted towards digital, he seamlessly navigated this transition, skillfully bridging the gap between traditional and modern methods. Amidst all these advancements, Robert's true passion remains deeply rooted in film-based photography. He constantly pushes the limits and boundaries of color film, perpetually exploring the art and science of capturing images with this medium. Nevertheless, he maintains a strong reverence for the origins of photography and holds a deep respect for the traditions established by the masters of black and white film photography. This is evident in his work, which beautifully combines innovation and homage to the classics. Currently, Robert continue pursuing his creative photography while working as a "Senior Production Artist" at Local Language, a commercial art studio located in downtown Oakland, CA.
