Yet, here tradition ceases. The liquid silicone enveloping the mouths introduces a contemporary touch, evoking associations with today's beauty industry. In mythology, mouths often symbolize communication and expression, and in this context, they might represent the silent screams of those succumbing to beauty standards. The use of silicone, an artificial filler, accentuates the duality of authenticity and artifice. From an art historical perspective, the piece recalls the Vanitas motifs of the Baroque era, depicting the transience of life. However, here it is not life, but beauty that is portrayed as fleeting. The psychological dimension of the piece delves deep into the human psyche, questioning our obsession with perfection and eternal youth.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
