ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Photograph of a water reflection found on Regent's Canal, London. Water reflection have been a fascination of mine for a very long time, my first dating back to 1998, and are part of an ongoing series that I called "Watercolors". In the reflection of London's waterways great abstract patterns and images reminiscent of art movements can be found. The constant movement of water and light ensure that each one is unique and add a feeling of transiency. This image represents the situation as it was found and has not been altered in Photoshop. The constant movement of the water and light make every picture unique and add a feeling of transiency. This is a signed limited edition of 12 prints on fine art Baryta paper by accredited print house. Prints will be signed and numbered on back unless otherwise requested. A 5 mm border has been added to make mounting easier. Two sizes are available 90 cm x 48.5 cm and 55.0 cm x 28.0 cm.

"Photography took me on a journey and just wouldn't let me go and it became a bit of an obsession. I believe one has to follow ones heart in photography. It should be a free exploration of anything that catches ones attention. As my journey is taking me to very different places I decided to split myself into two: Katja Lichtermeer is the artist and Katja Heber is an editorial and set photographer (just dispel any confusion). Katja Lichtermeer's inspiration comes mainly from her immediate environment, experiences and encounters and feature various subjects and situations. She uses photography to comment on the human condition. Topics she touched on include impermanence, uncertainty, showing mundane detail in a new light and catching fleeting moments to give them some appreciation. She has been located mostly in London. Further influences come from film, art, philosophy, and of course, photography. One of her themes consists of finding images that naturally occur within our modern- day city environment that are reminiscent of great masters or art movements. Initially she rarely chose to digitally alter images but she has started to experiment with photomontage and the manipulation of images. And she has also started painting and shooting videos. Katja Lichtermeer was born in Germany, but London has been her home for most of her life. All art on this site is copyrighted. (c) protected by copyright. +447852254549, or e-mail her:
