While spending two months directing a Discovery Channel Shark Week episode in New York, Hawaii, and South Africa (25 years I spent photographing white sharks.) At the end of the shoot, I decided to spend an additional month in South Africa traveling 7,000 kilometers up to Botswana. For as long as I can remember, water in any form is a magnet to my heart, my soul, and my brain; I gravitate to the water. While looking at a series of waves, I became fascinated by the simplicity and the power of Mother Nature. And then on queue came a single seagull, which said to me "I've arrived. Time to record my presence in this wave." Please understand it's very difficult for me to put words to my photograph.

DiMaggio's photographs embrace the elements of a powerful symphony. We perceive a rhythmic movement, vibrant hues begin to blur and invisible lines direct our gaze toward a sacred center with spiritual intensity. Passive viewing is not possible. He worships Gods like Gene Smith, Alfred Eisenstadt, DaVinci, and Picasso. “If it seems like I'm all over the place, I am, says DiMaggio.”
