Winchester - Tokyo: A Reunion Of Two Cities [II] Photograph

Ah, how ambrosial to the eyes to see that the Ladies, Gentlemen and, oh yes, the fidgety Children who were sat down for my first presentation are still faithfully glued to their seats – and very well done on you for helping yourself to a tub of nectarous vanilla ice-cream in the interval because I know just how unbearably hot it can become in this tiny little auditorium! Ahem, ahem! Tonight’s instalment of my reunion story is of the same joyous ilk as the excitement that you once used to feel in your tummy just before rushing into the house to settle down at the dinner table, eyes as large as the moon and a smile stretched from ear to ear and all because you knew your mumsy’s heavenly food would soon dock in front of you, more precious than the sum of all the golds of every royal who had ever lived! Little Alex had expended every penny of his energy in committing the funniest tomfoolery acts around the playground to which I unabashedly participated with full steam and indeed, full honours – if only Oxford University would permit playground observation as a valid form of assessment towards one’s PhD thesis! Who knows, the night of progress is still young…!! So, by the end of our playful assessments of the various apparatus in the park, our tummies rumbled boomingly and my throat, awfully dry, shook with an insane yearning for tea that I would not be surprised one iota if it were to be discovered that such was the combined vigour of our need to dunk into edibles and tea that it awakened the earth to quake with us too! Oh my, why are you shuddering…?! The three of us pushed our way through the door and splatted ourselves onto chairs, primed to bite into the plates if necessary! As you can see Little Alex dismissed the use of cutlery and shot his head straight into the grub, as did I too! I don’t think none of us let out a breath throughout the entire munching session lest it interrupt the unspeakable bliss of eating and sipping our well-deserved T-Edibles…!!!
