Yosemite Falls and Reflection Photograph

Yosemite Falls is actually two separate water falls. The Upper Yosemite Falls is 1430 ft tall and then flows ¼ mile to the Lower Falls which is 320 ft tall. These two falls flow very well all summer if we have had a good winter snow pack, but in the years since 2000, these falls have dried up by mid-July or August in most years due to drought conditions. Reflection shots like this are a rarity these days. Normally, the Meadow in front of this falls is green with grass every spring. In May of 2011, the heavy winter snows of the winter were melting fast in the warm spring and the waters of the Merced River rose to near flood stage, overflowing the river banks and flooding the valley’s meadows. With the recent droughts probably partially caused by Global Warming events, we may not see this scene very often.
