About The Artwork

Based on the outcomes of Hubel&Wiesel's experiments in the sixties, this photograph is part of a series of studies about the faculty of discrimination of the eyes, an attempt to build a catalogue of the visual properties of the objects, at the cross border between realism, conceptual and abstract. The repetition of the same elements, although belonging to different individuals, highlights the way in which the eye detects the visual characteristics of the objects From the work “ΔPO” Shot on film with a 6x9 cm camera Includes signed Certificate of Authenticity. Italian photographer Fulvio Orsenigo was born in Milan in 1961. In 1992 he moves to Venice where he still lives and works. His interest in landscape and architecture dates back to adolescence, when he wandered through his hometown just for the pure pleasure of looking. Always interested in the deep structures that underlie the forms, he sees in the photographic medium the tool to investigate the perceptive processes that shape our world, no matter if it is natural or artificial, and to measure the discrepancy between what we actually see and what we think we are seeing. He works with both analogue and digital photography and recognizes the work of Kazmir Malevic and Anselm Kiefer as a fundamental reference in the development of his artistic vision. Orsenigo has exhibited in important institutions including The Biennale of Venice (1997, 2016), the Triennale of Milano (2011), the Palazzo Ducale in Venice (2012), the CCA in Montreal (1998) and the Museum of Palazzo Fortuny in Venice (2004)
