About The Artwork

Courtesan… Based on the print by Eisho The image size is 11x15 inches on a 13x19 inch sheet of acid free, bright-white, medium weight watercolor paper. Each image in my Japanese Print Collection is meticulously redrawn and is faithful to the original woodblock print. I begin with a completely redrawn black-line image and build the colors layer by layer, creating a strong, vibrant, engaging image. I personally print each image using the finest archival pigmented inks that maintain their intensity and will not fade. I use only acid free, bright-white, medium weight watercolor paper. All of my images are individually hand-signed and numbered in a limited edition of 250 prints. Each print is imprinted with my personal chop and comes with a Certificate of Provenance. This print is priced at $125.00. Shipping and handling is included. With my best regards, Dan Please note… artwork should never be hung in direct sunlight.

Originally from the East New York section of Brooklyn, Dan began his artistic journey at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Shortly after graduation the US Army called. He served as a Military Policeman and then as a Criminal Photographer and Photo-Journalist for the U.S. and Japanese Governments on Okinawa from 1968-1970. Returning to New York in the spring of 1970, with an offer from the NYC Police Department to continue his work as a criminal photographer, fate stepped in and decided he should follow a slightly different path. Dan became a freelance assistant to several well-known fashion photographers, establishing his own studio producing photographs for the fashion industry. Leaving New York, in the late seventies, Dan pursued an academic education at Louisiana State University, receiving a Master’s Degree in Reproductive Physiology working on artificial insemination protocols. Although science is never far from his thoughts, his passion for photography, painting and writing were too strong for him to ignore. And, as the eighties segued into the nineties, Dan found his focus again shifting into his creative outlets. His work has been exhibited and collected across the United States and Asia and is also represented in the Martin Luther King Museum Collection in Atlanta, Georgia. Today, Denver, Colorado is home where he pursues his artwork and writing.
