Day Out Print

I grew up in France and obtained my Masters in Art at the Université Paris VIII in Paris and moved to London after graduating in 2009. I have since showcased my work in London and the UK and was shortlisted for the Creates Gallery Emerging Artist Award in 2018 and longlisted for the Secret Art Prize in 2019. London has been my home for the past ten years and I work full time out of my studio in Wimbledon Art Studios. I paint wild animals in a figurative and simple style, often using a bright colour palette. I take inspiration from Literature, Nature and Prehistoric Cave Art; I aim to compile my life-long interest in books into my art, adding an element of story-telling into most pieces. My early works were heavily influenced by folk tales and children’s books. I am fascinated by the fact that the human race has been recording stories through art for thousands of years and wish to convey this through my works. The subjects in my paintings are given centre stage and I tend to avoid backgrounds as I aim for a simple and modern look. The focus is on the animal alone on the canvas. Many of my pieces feature only one individual at a time; this is partly a reflection on myself as I am a sociable person but I love my own company and enjoy reading and painting, activities that do not require company.
