About The Artwork

This Print is in stock in my studio. It has been professionally printed on archival Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Metallic Paper with the highest quality archival inks. The limited edition numbers 25 in total. Each print in the edition (including this one) is full sized to match the original mixed media work. THERE ARE TWO IMAGES SIDE BY SIDE. Dimensions include both, side to side. This print is signed, numbered, and dated at the bottom, and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. This print will be shipped in a tube. Information about the original: Mixed Media: Acrylics (paint, ink, resin fixative), an emphasis on graphite pencils, Derwent Metallic Colored Pencils, black and white ink accents - with various brushes and pens on acrylic gesso primed hardboard panel. Statement: As it got closer to “show time” (at my Anchor House of Artists Exhibition in March 2022), I had a strong desire to exhibit a drawing or two. My use of graphite and colored pencils has grown and now figures in prominently with my mixed media repertoire. I wanted to emphasize and experiment with these even more, with some spot highlights in ink. Getting ready for this exhibit involved a lot of work, preparation, and confronting of my doubts. It produced a continual and relentless stream of thoughts and ideas. Born out of all this labor and contemplation, among a host of other things, was the creation of this diptych. I have a great many drawings I could have chosen for this exhibition, but I did not feel they would have been of the essence and fit the theme as well as a new work in the midst of my constant show preparation. It seemed the perfect chance to continue forward and a logical step in my development as an artist. Take the risk, experiment, learn and evolve…

My present work involves mixed media. I concentrate using acrylic paint, acrylic and other ink types, acrylic gouache, acrylic mediums (including gels and pastes), acrylic resin fixatives, a variety of brushes and pens, and graphite and colored pencils on acrylic gesso primed hardboard panels. Experiments with collage techniques with select pieces have been recently explored, and I plan to continue. My early work consisted of woodcuts and drawings, and painting in acrylic and oil. I have all but finalized earlier woodcut printmaking work that had been put on hold since the 1990’s and have begun new projects. As work in this medium is still a viable option, I look forward to this expansion in my overall art portfolio. Years ago I became enchanted with what computers could do as a tool to augment and enhance my varying processes, and this also led to photography aided by graphic software. With the explosion of information that became available on the internet, I have increased my knowledge of art history and artists throughout the world. I am greatly attracted to modern art, especially the work coming out of and exhibited in New York City and most recently in the Boston area.
