About The Artwork

This monotypes was printed while in residence for a month at PLAYA. PLAYA is a juried artist residency program that supports innovative thinking. It is located in the Oregon Outback near Summer Lake in Lake County. While in residence I witnessed the amazing sunrises and sunsets of this unique landscape. I observed astonishing dust storms, and changing reflections of branches on the pond. I become a gawker in awe of this desert basin which resulted in this monotype. This monotype was printed by hand with archival inks on BFK Rives 100% cotton, acid free printmaking paper.

Looking for an original abstract landscape painting, commission, or print. Our contemporary art gallery is open 24/7 www.painterpristas.com Tracy Lynn Pristas has completed over 29 commission art projects for interior designers, art consultant firms and collectors. She has sold over 196 originals. Pristas creates large-scale abstract landscapes, mixed media abstracts and monotypes. She derives her visual information and enthusiasm from nature, then departs into abstraction. Tracy’s paintings can be found in various health-care settings, including collections at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago), Central DuPage Hospital (Winfield, Ill.), Lutheran General Hospital (Park Ridge, Ill.), and St. John's Mercy Medical Center (St. Louis), Mayo Clinic (Jacksonville, FL), Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital (Denver), Swedish Covenant Hospital (Chicago). Her commissioned oil paintings are included in private collections nationally. She is represented by numerous fine art galleries nationally. Early on in her career she was awarded five community arts grants from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. This contributed to her success as a self taught Chicago painter. Honored with artist in residencies programs from the Ragdale Foundation, Jentel Arts Program, and Brush Creek Foundation For The Arts. She is a 2014 recipient of a direct purchase award from the Montana Arts Council. Her artwork has appeared in Chicago Magazine, Chicago Sun Times, Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Atlanta Style & Design and more. If your television is a shrine in your living room, you might have seen Pristas’s paintings on the Lifetime Television hit series “Drop Dead Diva,” now in its fourth season. Movie aficionados may have spotted some Pristas paintings in the Jennifer Aniston-Vince Vaughn movie “The Break-Up.” Tracy was born in Latrobe, Pa. For 17 years she maintained a studio in Chicago along the city’s Ravenswood industrial corridor, with an elevated train rumbling by her windows. She now resides in Littleton, Colo., and is freed from having to wear noise-reduction headphones when she paints. Thankfully, the foothills are a transition zone — not a transit zone.
