About The Artwork

Having a small etching press allows me to do some wonderfully small linoleum cuts. A man toweling off has been printed on a sheet of music. "F major, page 69" is printed in a rich red. I love to play with different papers for prints, as each one brings a unique flavor to the idea of the subject. I think men at their toilette is every bit as beautiful as a woman at hers.

At the age of 13, I discovered Michelangelo and Norman Rockwell on the same day. Determined to be the best draftsman I could be, I have focused the figure as my preferred course of study. Starting with an independent study of anatomy at 13 (which has never stopped), to drawing the figure at every opportunity all while raising a family. My love of the figure and passion to create work Michelangelo or Norman Rockwell might be proud of, drives me to this day. Drawing is the basis for all art. Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking...three mediums for which I have a passion. Painting, however, is a relatively new passion for me. Working to combine my drawing skills with the excitement that is color, my mind is constantly distracted by shapes, color, edges, atmosphere...light, shadow, perspective on any and all objects. I daydream about working uninterrupted, locking myself in my studio, or working out of my car while out on an expedition to satisfy my urge to capture lights and shadows and colors that excite my eye all day every day. One day, soon, I will get to make my daydream a reality. For now, I work when I can, exploring and creating and moving forward to where I know I should be.
