Painting: Giclee and Print on Paper. Limited edition giclee canvas print of an original oil painting. On ready-to-hang canvas with white or black edges (please specify when ordering). Proofed, signed and numbered by the artist, with certificate of authenticity. The term ‘muse’ comes from Greek mythology and refers any of the nine Goddesses of Inspiration considered to be the source of knowledge in literature, science and the arts. I had sketched out a rough idea for this painting a few years ago, but it wasn’t until recently that it came together. I literally met a muse, who became the model for this painting’s central image and the rest came together quite magically! Like the mystery of creativity, the source of what pulls her boat through the heavens is also unseen. On her journey she bestows sprinkles of the inspiration stored in her box to a lucky few. The turtles accompanying her are also symbolic of good fortune. She hides her identity behind a mask so as not to risk being captured by those who would keep her for their own selfish purposes. She is to be shared and revered by all who seek her graces.

About the Artist Award-winning oil painter Paul Bond was born in 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently lives and works in Southern California and Costa Rica. Paul Bond's art lives in the spaces between dreaming and reality. Drawing from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism, his paintings merge symbolic, surreal and fantastic elements with realistic atmospheres to unveil a world where everything is possible. At times, they simply express a whimsical aspect of life. Yet most works also carry deeper metaphysical and philosophical messages illuminating the world of our dreams and subconscious thoughts, fears and hopes. Bond’s work has won numerous awards and been featured in galleries, museums and cultural centers, including The Gateway Museum and The San Diego Art Institute. His paintings are now in private collections throughout the US, and worldwide. Corporate collections include Fox, Warner Bros and NBC Studios, Royal Caribbean International, Marriott Hotels, Scripps and Stanford Hospitals; and his works are featured in numerous contemporary art publications.
