About The Artwork

I'm Tomoko Kanzaki, a Mimeograph artist with an in-depth knowledge of the traditionalMimeograph technique in Japan. I am thrilled to introduce my latest creation to you. Artwork Overview: This mimeograph artwork revolves around the theme of a beautifully adorned floral-patterned watering can crafted from delicate pottery. The composition, resembling a unique collage, harmonizes with plants and is skillfully imprinted on traditional washi paper. The motif of the watering can is a personal possession of mine, inspired by the theme of my artwork, "Sakutei (Japanese means : Creating a Garden)." The Art of Gardening and the Three Elements: At the core of my artistic endeavors lies the theme of "Creating a Garden." In the art of gardening, the essential trio of wood, water, and stone cannot be overlooked. Utilizing these three elements, I construct images and bring my artwork to life. The water element is often symbolized by the motif of a pottery vessel, representing my distinct perspective.

There is an article about me on "People of Print". Please Search to "Tomoko Kanzaki" in the site. ----------------------- Bone-in Osaka Japan, I’m a printmaking artist based in Tokyo Japan. I studied Fine Arts at Kyoto Seika University and graduated with specialization of Printmaking in 2006. I participate several in group exhibitions and I have solo exhibitions, in Tokyo Japan in 2019. My prints are mainly abstractly collaging that from such as landscapes or shapes from Garden(Japanese Garden) with some representational references. So, I’m reconstructing and making the Garden by printmaking. --------------------------------------------------- I use mimeograph to make plates. The technology originated from Edison Mimeograph, Japanese who brought it made a unique improvement, and completed "mimeograph printing" which makes plate making with "waxed Japanese paper" and "iron file". It's been 100 years since then that printing technique has been in use for a long time, but it was a very attractive printing technique. It was a simple mechanism and it was found that various expressions are possible. I began studying the technology by self-taught. My work on Saatchi art has such a history.
