The print is an exploration of the simple shapes and patterns used to visualize natural forms and layers of a rose set in stained glass. The focus of this work is rooted in the idea of simplifying objects into basic primitives and minimal color palettes while still trying to maintain the original beauty and complexity. The Glasgow Rose series draws inspiration from the arts and crafts style of the late 19th century. The movement emphasized a rejection of mass production in favor of hand crafted art and design and the bold, simplistic aesthetic style drew inspiration from nature. A split fountain technique was used to print a gradient in a single pull, and the bold lines of the second color provide the final form to evoke a stained glass effect. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
