About The Artwork
This work is inspired by the concept of time as layering. Certain motifs, regardless of state, remain meaningful even while being partly concealed. Etching is in itself a process of deterioration and I’ve explored its materiality by using the same copper plate to create series of work with original images fading as new images are built up. Chin-colle is used to add subtle surface and colour variations into the printing paper.
