'This font is straight faced and contradicts the galling outburst of the phrases I have visualised'. Perhaps in this case choosing a font usually associated with supermarket posters is the right choice, it is cheap without warmth or feeling, lacking self indulgence. This series of work doesn't seem to do Walker any favours within the art and design community but then it's clear that Walker isn't trying to please anyone. Walker latches onto the brand extension of the artist’s name to turn envy upside down - turning it into self-improvement rather than perpetual negative consumption. ‘Envy of the tangible and intangible can show us the things we would like to improve or change. Benign envy is always about a potential gain whereas jealously is about a potential loss’. Of course we don’t feel that success of these artists is undeserved. It helps if you compare yourself to the right person, someone within your league, at a level you can reach, just far enough away to give them another punch.
