Fused from illustrations of retro books and ephemera, Instructions for Life is in many ways a celebration of pop culture - the thrill of first picking up a guitar, cowboy films, illustrations in nature books. Yet, the bird symbolises the silencing of the gun, a safe perch for it to rest, to reflect. This screen print is expertly pulled and in perfect condition. Chris Macfarlane, b.1982, Scottish painter, maker and lecturer. Graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Chris has been involved in a wide range of exhibitions and projects, having exhibited in Tokyo, Warsaw, Glasgow and London. Chris is the father to two cacophonous psychopaths, a college lecturer and founder of The Friday Art Club, a local painting class, centred on skills and sociability for retired people. Chris enjoys making stuff, fried egg sandwiches and speaking about himself in the third person.
