About The Artwork
Lino print on Gampi paper. The printing process is all done by hand. I used sharp tools to cut out the lino block. The lino print consists of precise cuts and energetic, rough markings. Gampi paper is smooth to the touch and has subtle decorative bark inclusions called chiri, which is added in the papermaking process. Gampi paper is part of the Japenese Washi paper family. Gampi Paper was the earliest and is considered to be the noblest fibre made from the bark of the plant, noted for its richness, dignity and longevity. Aquatint compliments the richness of the paper.
