About The Artwork

In 2018, following two sleepless nights filled with debauchery, a song played in the distance by Agar-Agar, called ‘Your High’, but all I kept hearing was ‘lover’s high, and the name has ever since been stuck in my head. After the bender came home, I sketched my first draft. I could visualize the work on big print; I was waiting for my machine to come, which it never did. My search continued but it led to nothing, my efforts were futile. Recently, on my trip to explore India, I found the sketch in my diary. I’ve had it with me this entire time, but never found it, until on that train journey from Delhi to Siliguri I had decided to embark upon. It was after this incident, that I had an epiphany- ‘Things happen when they are supposed to, and their timings are always beautiful.’ I eventually completed this print in Kalimpong. This is a hand-pulled woodcut print which I usually make by following the traditional methods which involve drawing on a piece of wood/ply sheet and then the untouched areas are scraped off using a sharp gouge, the raised portion is then inked well and it's ready to take an impression on paper using hand pressure on all sides of the paper. This process is continued for multiple reductions depending on the work. So, this piece is a 13-layer reduction print. All in all, the process is quite labour-intensive but that's what I personally enjoy doing where the art is actually the process of making it and the thoughts flowing while creating it and the final piece is just the by-product of all the thoughts and actions used while it was been created. So, I believe art is about the process! This is an original hand-pulled Woodcut print, not a digital print, created on Canson 300 gsm paper. It consists of 13 layers in a reduction print technique. The edition is 2 out of 2. Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions regarding this work. Thank you🌹. P.S. The artwork has creases, as you can see in the main image.
