About The Artwork
This image is from a series of female portraits that reference art images from the past— in particular the female form. This series pays homage to the "majas" (in Spanish "maja" means "beautiful woman") so often depicted in art. I was inspired by the etchings of Goya. The image was etched (intaglio) then painted and wiped selectively (as a monoprint). Printed on arches paper.
