b.1993 Eleanor Angelinetta is a mixed media artist living and working in Somerset. After graduating from Edinburgh in 2016 she has exhibited widely across the UK in exhibitions and art fairs at venues including; Saatchi Gallery, Arnolfini, Royal Academy and Truman Brewery. She specializes in painting and printmaking but also combines other media into her work. “I want my work to be personal and symbolic of my experiences. However, I aim to present my ideas in such a way that they will resonate with others on many levels. I don’t want to create an image that is too direct. I want a piece to be mysterious and to draw the viewers’ attention, making them think and to evoke an inquisitive, even emotional response. I don’t want my work to be interesting for a minute. I want people to be able to see something else each time they look at the work.” My current practice is about my personal journey and battles I have faced. The life cycle of the butterfly is the quintessence of metamorphosis and they are often viewed as symbols representing journeys, life, hope, endurance and change - the perpetual motion of nature…and so much more. I felt they were the perfect subject to focus on throughout this journey. Their lives are ephemeral and cyclic but I want their detailed beauty to be noticed and preserved, almost contained within the artwork frame. The presentation of my pieces is key. I have spent much time experimenting with how to extend the impact beyond the marked surface. The way fluorescent paint and light respond has been key to this concept. This concept will feature in all of my new pieces. I want to show through my art and reflect upon I have broken this into different series’ and will continue to do so. There will also be ‘stand-alone’ pieces on the same theme that also play with light and fluorescent paint.
