Elettra Gorni says: "I was born in Suzzara, near Mantua, Italy, in 1967. Currently living, working and studying in Milan. I'm an artist, researcher and teacher inspired by old japanese books and prints; my artistic practice is intended to suggest intriguing surrealism using simple shapes, black/white, only few colors and the void. My preferred medium is japanese woodblock (mokuhanga), since this printing process allows me to build simple, meditative, flat images with a strong power of evocation, but I work also with painting, sculpture, ceramics and drawing".
