artist statement from early stages in life stimulated to express myself in many ways. making things. Kindergarten was the base of expression forever after. being trained to many fields the subject of my work shifts over the years with painting site specific in mega size to a more home friendly environment. Learning about the work of ‘Hodgkin’ realizing small can be very satisfying. from an original figurative expression to abstraction of a figurative idea trying to resolve the essence of the subject (as in landscape painting) or an figurative image into a abstract idea. sometimes social conscious as in the life we live with its obsession of numerology or consumerism. sometimes inspired by IKEA-catalogs(after Hamilton) or chocolate wrappers(the gift of water). or very plainly nature as it is but just magnified. paintings that for whatever reason are discarded are used as ‘carpets’ to keep the floor clean. painting is like work highly concentrated + exhausting. apart from this making furniture + small objects is a joy. Of coarse it is very nice to be appreciated + people that acquire an artwork love it better over time, this fortunately they tell me many times although my work does not have a real connection to classical work other then sometimes borrowing from their technical skills i like to think that my work is in line with contemporary work not necessarily related.
