About The Artwork

Each of my sculptures is nature-focused. I live in the area called Cape Ann, North of Boston where beaches, miles of shoreline, and beautiful gardens are plentiful and this is what inspires me. This work is meant to recall a sea wave that might be rolling into shore after a storm. It is my hope that this conjures up a pleasant memory of being by the sea. I work in porcelain because it allows me to form complex, thin, organic shapes that allow the nature light to play off each twist and turn.

When I discovered that I could take raw porcelain in the palm of my hand and fashion it into delicate, intricate, organic forms, I never looked back. By shaping every sculpture with my hands I can achieve the full range of energy and expression I seek. Each sculpture shape recalls the forms and motion of flowers, sea plants and ocean waves which are on Cape Ann, my home, and where the earth and ocean meet in spectacular forms. My work as a porcelain artist is an extension of my writing about interior design and architecture. Both are about making our homes beautiful and authentic. Architectural Digest has characterized my work as "the epitome of nature-inspired elegance". That is what I work to achieve in each piece I create. I have been working in ceramics since 2003 and began working in porcelain in 2011. Today I have collectors across the globe and several public installations across the US in luxury hotels and lobbies.
