About The Artwork

Aboriginal Dream Time is ancient as well as the ritual and mysteries. Body painting is one ritual which holds the mysteries of that connection to the spirit world. This woman came to me through my doll making, she emerged through the clay and I followed the progress realizing that she came from another place, another time. Perhaps, her body painting holds that mystery and perhaps, she has stories to tell. She has a mud cloth skirt, which is not indigenous to the Aboriginal people; however, the dyed patterns are seen in Australian tribal art forms and adds to the power of this doll. Her apron is beaded. The body painting continues on her back which a series of half moon and full circles.
