This was inspired by the work of Barbara Hepworth. It is an early example of my experimentation using 3D printing technology to create forms, from which plaster moulds are made and the piece is slip cast. The goal here was to explore how to use 3D printing software to create virtual shapes then bring them to the real world, but in a form more pleasing than plastic, and using the flexibility available with clay. There is a sense of balance and tranquillity in the shape, with the marbled colours from terracotta clay adding a sense of drama.
