About The Artwork
This anamorphic work is inspired by the colour palette of beautiful flower I photographed in a veg patch in the summer of 2020. I grew up in South Africa and have been heavily influenced by the deep history of African Masks. This work applies a modern mathematical look at the idea of transforming a traditions looking African mask into a geometrical construct. The origins of Anamorphosis are obscure but Niceron and DuBreuil discuss these in books dating back to the 1600s.
