About The Artwork

This sculpture is a reinterpretation of a classic Roman sculpture “Antinous”, Adriano’s lover. This version represents the character in an eminent condition under the attributes of Baco, the greek god, but it details his noble expression and timeless aura. More than feeling the character is at a carnival or a party, we can interpret his Apollonian attributes, not his drunkenness or lack of control, but rather the precision and the assonance of a true Apollo. The artist Gabriel Burgos, invites us to place our attention in the character’s attitude and facial expression that is delimited by contemporary cuts emphasizing the great meaning of this sculpture, which teaches his audience that being man the measurement of all things, the apprehension of this human and divine dimension has in these forms its biggest consideration.
