Aphelion Collection: A1 Sculpture

A child of both the desert and the beach, a passion for nature and its visual complexity has permeated Royzell’s compositions as long as he can remember. Having spent part of his childhood in Arizona, Royzell experienced the desert through all of its glorious seasonal changes, witnessing the marvel of hidden life and spectacular textures and colors that can be glimpsed at dawn and dusk. Moving to Southern California during adolescence offered a contrasting palette of colors, textures and especially movement. Whereas the desert offers a stillness with which to absorb the visual, the beach is constantly moving and changing. Royzell’s work seeks to grab a single moment and explore that instance in fantastic detail. Royzell perfected his detail techniques while living in Hong Kong and absorbing all he could from Chinese traditional arts. He applies these classic techniques and materials, such as resin sculpting, in a modern interpretation that captures a moment in nature. His goal is to continue to evolve his style and mediums to fully explore nature’s complexity.
