About The Artwork
This sculpture was created by first fusing a 10" x 10" sheet of clear glass to a sheet of bright marigold glass. Then the piece was embellished using the bargello design technique. Bargello is a type of needlepoint embroidery consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. This technique has been adapted for use in creating complex patterns in glass. I had created these bargello pieces for another project and my extra pieces lent themselves very well to this new design. I arranged the pieces in an arrow pattern to represent forward movement and then fused them to the double-layer base glass tile. The finished sculpture is displayed in a black iron stand.
