About The Artwork
The piece is about man emerging from dirt and mud being saved by technology hence the title 'austenite' which is a alloy of steel. Austenization is the process of absorbing more carbon into steel to harden it. It is a metaphor for use and abuse of technology. It is backlit by LED lights that changes color constantly or can be set to emit a specific color only.
