circle of life No.2 Sculpture

To be human is to create. To create is to destroy. In making something useful I also make something that is not useful. Using the shape of an hour glass as a motif for time, I started carving the upper half of the stone. I then used the resulting tubble to create the lower half. Thus the two extremes of creation exist within the one object. The object will never revert to its original form but, like the scattered sands of a Samsara Mandala, its existance continues regardless.
