During 6 months of building a house, the bricklayers, plumbers, painters and all those involved in manual work, would take a break around one in the afternoon to eat and share. In an almost methodical way, the lowest in the hierarchy of the Master, Captain, Chalán or Assistant ... He gathered firewood, pieces of bars, falsework or poles to light a fire and cover it with this Comal. Once the fire was made and at the signal of a whistle, sometimes a white noise or just a shout, everyone stopped working. They gathered around this comal, to share what they had of food. At the end of a casting, even the Architect ate the hot and seasoned stuff on this comal. The energy transmitted by an object decorated with the generosity of men is what attracts my artistic attention. The Fire has done its part in giving character, the fluids, the oil and the flavors were skating the metal until leaving only a witness sheet of all this time. The proposal of the comal is the P / A Artist Test. The first of seven same objects found in the remains of the works of residential houses of some subdivisions in the suburbs of Querétaro. The growth boom of our city. My intention is to question the limits that are transgressed between the collective and the work of human effort within the construction industry. By way of endurance, at the base of the pyramid the workers continue to build with their hands where one day a family will live peacefully. The differences within our social classes are erased around a comal. The fire seals and for a moment you forget that the house that a mason crew is building is maybe a dozen times bigger than where they live. However, the Worker and the Employer are reduced to a single reflection. That is why the decision to burnish it and protect it where even the frame has a reason to protect the support.
