About The Artwork
Initially inspired by Henry Moore, I began sculpting highly stylized reclining figures in 2000. By the time I got to this one I'd been reading Cervantes and enjoyed depicting the knight in armour, not poised for combat, but sprawled out under a tree, perhaps himself reading of his own exploits. Sculpted in two sections, each is attached to the flat black stone base (not shown) to ensure that they maintain their correct positions relative to each other.
