Drifting Sculpture

During July 2017 in Ottawa Ontario, there was major flooding of the Ottawa River due to constant rain. One day after the rain stopped, I went down to the area beach to look around. I found several lovely pieces of driftwood that had washed up by the shore. This was one of the pieces that was there. I picked it up and brought it home and cleaned it up then let it dry. It was such a beautiful piece of wood, it deserved to be made into a sculpture. The wheel represents the movement of the river that brought the wood to the place where I found it.. How the wood traveled until it came to rest in the spot where it would be found and repurposed into art.
