About The Artwork

This artwork is my variation of vanitas subject,in more cheerful way. It is also my reflection on famous Bosch painting and it's profound symbolism. The strawberry here is a delight, but quite temporary and evanescent in this particular state. The "wrong" color refers to irreality and illusion. But it also alludes there is still something behind that phenomenon and appearance. Silver leaf surface is a double metaphor here, being not what it seems - not being silver but aluminum and thus also representing a mirror - reflection and mirage. The sides are also covered with "silver" leaf and varnished with special varnish for gold and silver leaf to avoid oxidation.

I do like exploring global and fundamental concepts of existence and their manifestation in our present being. I am inspired by philosophy, metaphysics, human history and culture. I'm also interested in our new way of reality such as the new digital reality and it's relation and interaction with our physical reality. The virtual reality is becoming more and more real and there is a parallel with Eastern philosophies' consept of Maya, the illusion of this world. I am fascinated with the idea of subconscious effect of the art and I like exploring the ways of the impact. As of now I tend to minimalistic forms of expression, reducing the artworks to basic shapes and colors. I am inspired by really different forms of art and culture of various styles and times. But as of now one of my major sources of inspiration is abstract art of the beginning of the 20th century - Kandinsky, Hilma af Klint, Malevich, Piet Mondriaan, Paul Klee, Franz Marc. And abstract expressionism artists - Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Cy Twombly, Lee Krasner.
