About The Artwork

Ceramic female figure with metallic patina finish // I have been exploring the benefits of solitude in 2020, and I came to the conclusion that the majority of visuals that depict solitude are melancholic and lonely in nature. To me solitude is the opposite of those interpretations. Solitude represents an absolute bliss of being with oneself while accepting all the flaws of the human being we embody; and nurturing one's own being in a wholesome manner. I realized solitude is akin to a healing modality for mind and body integration that humanity can benefit from. Although in mainstream solitude is marginalized and it's something that characterizes monks or hermits. Solitude could instill healing and compassion to human nature if we were properly educated on the topic. Vast amounts of resources are being spent on studying loneliness but not solitude..shift in perspective can benefit our society at large. Most artists are naturally inclined towards solitude during the creative process, yet understanding solitude and practicing it in our lives consciously is imperative to vigorous mental wellness. Sculpted from a live observation of a model, fired in 2017 // Sculpture was completed by patina finish application in 2020
