Exaggerated Growth from 'In-between-ness' an exhibition at the Spode Factory. Sculpture

Created Intuitively and spontaneously, these pieces explore the liminal, distressed elegance of the Spode Factory. I was Inspired to create work in response to the in-between state of consciousness of the space. I am drawn to the ragged shapes and the traces of production burned deep into the fabric of the factory, it’s story gouged upon the ceiling and into the floors. Exaggerated Growth is one sculpture out of an installation of nine exhibited at the Spode Factory in Stoke on Trent in 2017. It is made out of paper clay and is a wall hung work. The surface is glazed with a built in ceramic fixing on the back with wire to adjust position.
