Art Description

Sculpture: Wood, Embroidery Thread, Skateboard Decks, Cross Stitch on Wood, Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric), Other.

9,365 hand drilled 1.5mm holes, across 5 separate skateboard decks, stitched with 1,275 feet of Soft Embroidery thread create this contemporary work.

The day of the dead skull is a popular icon in Latin American culture celebrating “Dia de los Muertos”. Based on floral motifs to create the overall floral skull image.

The 5 decks are secured on a stainless steel bracket and are displayed in a perspex case which allow the Floral Skull Boards to be either hung on a wall or to be exhibited free standing.

Each separate deck is wax seal stamped on the reverse side for authenticity.
