A warm breeze ripples the lush green canopy of leaves as golden sunlight shimmers between the gaps. Inspired by the Japanese practice of wandering meditatively through a forest. This pair of visually light sculptures evoke peace and tranquillity with a hint of the wild. Each paint drip is dried before being meticulously glued one by one over the hand-made sculptures. The innovative technique merges my background as a mosaic artist and sculptor with my interest in the manipulation of dried paint as a material. he work is fitted with D-rings and wire for immediate hanging. On the back you will find my signature, title, and date. The artwork is registered with the NRAA (National Registry for Australian Artists), details of the registration will be included with a Certificate of Authenticity. The work will be shipped in a custom plywood box.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
