About The Artwork

This woodwork depicts the cycle of life through the interaction between a grandparent and a grandchild. Although there is a generational gap, it is up to the elders to plant a seed and leave an impact for newer generations to come. By doing this, elder generations live on through through their succeeding generations.

Akhtar Ahmed Rasha is an artist who uses the medium that the majority of our sculptors do not use. He is a nature lover, and he works with driftwood, bark, roots and trunks which he finds in nature. Each piece of wood has different texture and in Rasha's hands, it becomes unique and meaningful. Many of his artworks are related themes from Bangladesh. Rasha was born and raised in Bangladesh. Since 1993, he has been living in the United States. His first solo exhibition "Sense of a Moment" (2015) and the second exhibition "Monsoon"(2017) both took place in NY. Akhtar Ahmed Rasha has his Masters degeee in English literature from Jahangirnagar University.
