'Gulf Mule' was made from the variedly cut-off pieces of styrofoam used to create 'Insha'Allah'. The form is an abstraction of a Dhow's Bow utilized by the local fisherman in the Persian Gulf region. The Bow lists precariously to the left and is held steady by rope connected to a 100yr old section of an Oak boat keel. Pine and Oak wedges randomly stab the form, splitting open the bow and adding to the illusion of precariousness. This piece as well as 'Insha'Allah' comes out of my own history and memories of living in the Persian Gulf as a child. They are made physical through my love of materials and the process of manipulating these materials.
