ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Saggar firing was originally developed to protect wares from ash-slagging and flame-flashing in wood firings, but in contemporary use, with clean-burning gas firings, the process is used in exactly the opposite way: to contain fumes around a pot so that the pot to picks up color from the fumes. Saggars are the lidded containers used to contain and isolate pots during a saggar firing. I used aluminum foil saggars that do the trick quite nicely. My ceramics are made with love and beauty of natural materials with their harmonized symbiosis which can be perfectly combined with either bohemian or modern design. They will bring or add originality, peculiarly and uniqueness to any interior style. Items from SevaCeramics are exclusive and unique what make them central piece in any interior. Natalya Sevastyanova is a Los Angeles-based contemporary ceramic artist whose work bridges the untamed beauty of nature with modern design. Born and raised amid the vast and rugged landscapes of the Ural Mountains in Russia, Natalya draws profound inspiration from the natural world that surrounded her upbringing. Her artistic journey began as a muralist and animator, and she honed her creative sensibilities through an M.F.A. in Architecture Design at the Academy of Architecture and Arts in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and Santa Monica College, California. These experiences cultivated her eye for form, structure, and the interplay between art and environment. In 2013, Natalya turned her focus to clay, a medium that allowed her to express the organic beauty of nature in tactile and timeless forms. Over the years, her work has evolved from functional pottery and ceremonial teapots to intricate wall sculpture installations that transform spaces. Her installations have been featured in galleries, residential interiors, and commercial projects across Los Angeles and throughout the United States. Under her brand, SevaCeramics, her pieces have also gained international recognition for their ability to merge rustic elegance with contemporary aesthetics. Working from her private studio in Los Angeles, Natalya continues to explore the intersection of nature, art, and architecture, creating ceramic works that bring a sense of serenity and natural flow into modern spaces.
