ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The source of my inspirations is Mother nature - its magical beauty, harmony, strength and power. Every ceramic piece is filled with my positive energy and creative spirit. Handmade ceramics are always more than just tableware or décor. It is a creative process of transforming a ball of clay into an object of art. My vessels are simple and elegant with bold look. They are beautiful accents to any home décor. I like experimenting with surface texture. I like dark or black clays and I use oxides a lot. Both give the piece a richer vibrant look, complementing the clay. My pieces are not formal rather natural organic forms with imperfections which make them look more unique. This platter has a unique organic inside and outside surfaces. The object is made from black clay and layered black and brown stains and crackle glaze on top creating the dry earth effect. The outside surface was impressed on handmade wood bark mold. The handles are made from stained drift wood and connected by thin suede cord. I love collecting drift wood. These ones came from Rialto beach in Olympia National park. It takes approximately from 1 to 1.5 months to create and accomplish one ceramic piece from start to finish.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My strongest inspiration comes from Mother nature and its influences on the shape of plants and animals, trees and rocks, both on land and underwater. New techniques and forms continually stimulate my interest in clay. The process of integrating various media with clay, like metal wire, stones, sand and wood to create dynamics has a great appeal to me. It is fascinating to take something essentially flat and turn it into organic form with volume creating a synergy between layered color, texture and movement. My favorite firing method is raku but I also use high fire with reduction process and oxidation process.
