About The Artwork
This is a mixed-media piece made during my BA, It is a gouache in plaster cast of a friend on my course. Gouache was mixed into plaster in seperate vats before being combined into one and then into a mold. The result was then cut and broken up before being reassembled exposing the patterns cast within. This piece took influence from neuroscience and art process. The repeat pattern of the neuron pathways influenced the swirl patterns within the my practise. I wanted to use the swirl patterns made using paint pouring methods to create a representation for the mind. And therein, evoke thoughts relating to mental welling and health. Winner of Bute Street Film Festival Best Artist 2019
