About The Artwork

A collection of more than 80 ceramic bottles all hand made without the use of a wheel. Every bottle and vessel form is different both in shape and form, and in terms of glaze. This sculpture will make a stunning centrepiece. The work is at its largest is ca12" in length, 9" wide and at its highest, 8". Each bottle has its own personality. However, they have in common they depend on each other to make sculpture's structure possible. In part, the inspiration for the work came from the local recycling cenre at which there was an overflowing glass bank, and a pile of all manner of glass bottles and jars on the surrounding ground. On this occasion I decided that the different shapes should be exagerated by each having its own uniqie combination of glazes. The collection is 'sat' in a large oval dish made from thin coils. It has a felt base. These bottle collections are very labour intensive and a piece like this can easily take more than 80+ hours to make from start to finish. Many of the bottles start off as pinch pots, slabs of thin clay, or thick and thin coils that are then moulded into the shape required. I do not use a wheel to make any of these forms.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I have been a ceramicist for more than 30 years. 99% of my work is made using coils, slabs and pinch pots with the occasional use of extruded forms and aslip casting. The emphasis of my work is scupltural and ornamental rather than utlitarian. I have a particular interest in the fusing and melding of glass to ceramics and this body of work is collected from as far afield as the Middle East and USA.
