About The Artwork
Heart Wood was inspired by a photo I found of the markings left behind of the wood bore . The design was like an abstract painting, powerful in its simplicity . So, I found this slab of a silver maple tree trunk , drilled many holes , burnt them , burnished and sanded the wood until it felt that I had created a sense of nature's effortless symmetry. It looks beautiful with the light shining through it, like a stained glass window.

Being an artist was a given in my family, one in which my mother and grandfather were both committed artists. I spent every summer of my youth on the shores of Bois Blanc Island, a pristine jewel that would eventually inform and inspire my work. Currently I am focusing on wooden assemblages which are constructed of various woods and found objects. They are in preparation for three upcoming invitational shows.
