About The Artwork
Odessa was famous for its large Jewish community and good sense of humor and self-irony. This project captures the passing era of Jewish culture in my city . I turned my gaze to the rite of Kaparot, the atonement of sins. Depicting this rite, I and my viewer undergo purification. The figure is sculpted by hand, hollow inside. composed of several fragments.I applied several author's technique of firing to give the figures an archaic and shabby look.
